January Favourites

It just seems like this month has whizzed past it doesn't seem that long ago that I was writing about what I got for Christmas, though saying that it definitely seems like a long time since I finished my Christmas chocolate!

Also just a little side note, you nearly didn't get a favorites today as me being my forgetful self only went and left my camera out in the rain all night (typical UK weather!) Luckily it still worked, so just in case any of you didn't know I don't advise you doing that.

Now I know I've already shown you these willow patterned Dr Martens but I thought I'd put them in there again as I love them so much. Now that I've got the right size I'm wearing them at every opportunity. They are so comfy, I think I'm lucky as I know for a lot of people them have to wear there Dr Martens in quite a bit before they're actually comfy. When I've got them on I just keep looking down at my feet, at least I'm almost certainly not going to stand in dog poo!

The second thing I'm loving this month is my new slippers, they are really comfy. Hopefully they'll be made of tougher stuff than my last pair as both me and my sister have this amazing knack of demolishing perfectly good pairs of slippers. They came from  Marks and Spencer

This Mirror is so good as it's so clear and so pretty, it's very useful, if like me you have a brace and you want to make sure you don't have food all smammed around your brace. I know it's disgusting!

The book that I've literally just finished reading only last night is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. As you all probably know by now, I love the Harry Potter books so you probably already know which book is going to be in next months favorites!

For this months song of the month it's Florence and the Machine Queen of Peace
It's from her latest album which can I just say is incredible, me and my sister listen to it whilst we're cooking. Baking and boogieing whats not to like?!

Trying Something New!

Lets be honest, the other day I was having one of those days, the sort of days were you munch through the dregs of your Christmas chocolate feeling quite despondent. With Christmas being over your thinking what next, how can I make this year what I want it to be?
Well I decided the best thing to do was to consult my note book of things I wanted to do, (I know, I have a note book for just about everything, most lay collecting dust half finished.) But top of the list was Join trampolining and I suddenly had this mad impulse to join it. I mulled over what the next step was. Phone up about it. After phoning a couple of places I found somewhere that did trampolining which had places available and signed up the next day, It's amazing how much easier it is to write this down than to be waiting for someone to pick up the receiver, gripping the phone with extremely sweaty hands.

I think for anyone, trying something new is daunting and I certainly wasn't an exception to that rule. Yet I did it!!!  And had one of the best times I'd had in a really long time, it was just so fun!

I thought I'd add this video in as it's one of the things that inspired me to join trampolining. She's is amazing!

Surprisingly I haven't quite got to her level yet!

For anyone wanting to try something new this year I would say 'go for it!' because it's an amazing feeling knowing you've ticked off one mammoth thing on your list already.

Book Recommendations

I personally am a right old book worm and there is nothing I like more than on a cold winters day (I know the weather in the UK has certainly taken a chilly turn) than to snuggle in my bed with my book.

So these books are all sort of based around Self esteem and anxiety, and I have found them all to be very useful books.

Last and certainly not least as it's probably my favorite book out of all of these and that is HOW 2B HAPPY by J Alexander. I think the reason it's my favorite is because for me it's an instant positivity boost, and it really rubs off on me.

She makes you think about things in a different, more positive way and makes it fun by adding in quizzes and activity's. It's quite an easy read which I find really good because you don't want to go trudging through a mammoth book as I know I would find it dull.

If you decide to have a little read I really hope you find them as helpful as I did.

New years resolutions

It's now 2016
Which is all very exciting as it means a new beginning, and is the perfect time to start new things. This is obviously very scary, but I have a feeling once I've achieved what I want I will feel so much better.

Right, on to my goals,

Join a Club, this is one I want to achieve more than any of my resolutions, the reason for this is I would really like to get some friends and I think this is the best way to go about it. I don't actually know what club I want to join yet but these are the ones I've been thinking about.
Modern dance

I know my interests are quite varied that's why it's so hard to choose
Try different foods, now I'm a very fussy eater, it's that I don't like a lot food, it's just that I've never tried a lot of things. The way I'm going to go about this is to try and try at least two different things every month, I've already tried one thing this month, Camembert, the cheese, to me it tastes a lot like brea and I was surprised at how good it tastes.

Be comfortable using public transport, I find even the thought of it really hard as it makes me super anxious as you can't just hop off the bus or train any time you want. I've thought about this one and I think the best way for me to deal with this one is to start by going on very short bus trips to just say the next village and then gradually try and build it up to longer trips.

Try and ride again, as over the last six months I have lost my confidence to the point that I wasn't even sure that I wanted to do it anymore because it was causing me so much stress just being with horses. but over Christmas when we didn't go for about a week I realized that I really missed it and now that has really made me more determined.

Make the most out of 2016 I also want to try to be as confident and as positive as possible this year, a start trying new things.
Well, I think that's a nice note to leave you on.
I would love to hear what your resolutions are, let me know in the comments.

Operation Room Tidy Up! 10 Tips For The Tidy Room

I was going to publish this before Christmas but unfortunately I just got distracted and didn't have time, but this could still be helpful to you if you are like me and once you've got all your new presents it takes a while to put them in to their new homes, I have literally just finished tidying my room and now my lovely Christmas presents are in their new homes. As I said in my December goals I wanted to tidy my room for Santa, which can I just say I accomplished, as you can tell I'm very proud of myself as you can tell!
If you know me you'll know I'm the sort of person that has a place for everything, its called the floor! The trouble is I just seem to accumulate clutter, it grows faster than the weeds in my garden and that is saying something!
The weird thing is my sisters, mum, dad and brother think I'm a bit weird for this but I actually don't mind tidying, admittedly I have to be in the right frame of mind and it's hit and miss when it comes but anyway I thought I would give you some tips of some of the things that help me.

  1. Write myself a very detailed to-do list.
This makes me feel great because you feel like your actually getting somewhere.
  2. Put some Music on that really makes you feel like you want to get up and get on. (YMCA, Macerana)  I found out whilst cleaning that it's virtually impossible to learn the words for the macerana! I'm even thinking of making myself a tidying playlist!
  3. Take pictures of before and after, this is the first time I did this as I was really doing it for the blog post but it was amazing to see the improvement.
  4. This one I find really hard getting rid of stuff as I'm quite a sentimental person but my mum read somewhere about before you get rid of something say thank you to it and that way the happiness you used to get from it when you where little will come back to you in other ways. This really helped me in feeling less guilty about throwing it away. I think it was in Marie Kondo's book that she found it in.
  5. Wear a dust mask, when your wearing one of these you mean business! No, if your like me, a bit allergic to dust these really help.
  6. Open the window to get some fresh air in, I don't advise this if it's raining unless you want all your possessions swilled away in which case go ahead. Personally I have never used this Technique so you'll have to let me know how well it works.
  7. Put everything on your bed, clothes from you floor clean clothes ,dirty clothes, things from your shelves everything, that way you can get on with the next step. Hoovering, dusting this way your not having to pick things up off your floor as you go along.
  8. Don't get distracted, now I am probably the worst for this, you suddenly find old photos, someone messages you, you find out old school work. THAT CAN WAIT! I just suddenly realize I'm sat down not doing what I should. When you realize this, get up and get on.
  9. Like I said earlier I have to be in the right mind set for tidying and it's very unfortunate when your room is in desperate need of a tidy but you can use another way that I sometimes think is helpful. It's what my mum calls the 15 minute rule you literally do just that, 15 minutes every day until it's done. I think it's good because you don't end up spending your whole day on it . Another thing that is good about it is that you often realize that you've been doing it for 25 minutes and your now in the right mood for carrying on.
  10. The is the best one as you get to plan some relax time. Have a bath, watch a film, read your book. You can think of it as motivation.

I hope you can now see your floor in your room like I eventually did, happy tidying.
